Everyone wants to have healthy looking skin. When you look healthy you attract people around you and people look up to you. Looking good is very important in today’s world and when you look good you feel good!

So, is it possible to have a healthy looking skin when you feel not so good?

Maybe you didn’t have much sleep or you’re overworked and a bit stressed, this shows on your face and you look less healthy then you would want to.

You can of course hide the effects with makeup, just cover up the dark circles around your eyes. But still you wouldn’t feel good right.

You want to have a healthy looking skin without any makeup. You want to look shining and vibrant full of energy.

I know of one herb / ingredient in skin care products that works wonderfully. It regenerates your skin tissue to the point where blood can flow again to the top layers of your skin. This is very important. The more blood can flow deeply into your skin layers the more vibrant and healthy your skin looks.

I will talk more about this herb in a minute. But I want to tell you about some natural exercises that really helps you look healthier. Yoga for example is one of the best exercises you can do for your skin and face. With the right exercises you get so much fresh blood flow in your body your skin will become younger and younger the more you practise it.

Of course it takes time to see any effect but in a few weeks you should be feeling better and more energized as well as your whole appearance would be better. So, this i would recommend, start with yoga and practise this for 30 minutes every day. Especially the exercises where you put your legs up are very good for regenerating skin tissue in your face.

Ok, what about this natural substance that I talked about earlier?

Doing the exercises like Yoga is very good but if you want to have results faster you can try out one of the skin care products. The substance I talked about is Cynergy TK, you might have heard of it as it is used in a lot of skin care products these days. But be alert what you buy.

Most skin care products I have seen using this substance use it in a different way as it supposed to be. To have really good effect with this substance it should be processed a certain way or otherwise it looses it’s power. The Cynergy TK I’m talking about here is taken from wool from New Zealand sheep.

Clinical studies have proven this to work wonderful as it boosts Collagen and Elastin naturally in the body instead of adding these substances to it, which does not work really for the body, because it cannot absorb it deeply into the skin tissue.

Collagen and Elastin are the two most important substances in the body that causes aging, so you want to look for ingredients that helps the body produce them naturally and that is what this Cynergy TK does. Studies showed an improvement of 14% of skin moisture retention over just 18 days. In the same time frame it showed even an improved skin elasticity of 42%. These are very effective numbers and they are real.

This is not all you want to know about skin care products. Be careful what you buy as a lot of products on the market are from the big commercialized companies that want to make as much profit as possible. They limit the amount of ingredients in their products.

I would ask you to visit my website where I compiled a list of the best ingredients in skin care products to get a healthy skin. At the end I will tell you something about what products I buy and why they are the best in the world today, in my opinion. I’m not the only one though, 1 out of 2 customers become loyalty customers after using their products.

"You're only pretty if you feel pretty?"?
that's my grampa's insight on beauty. he believes that you will be pretty to others if you yourself feel beautiful. this includes being able to cover and mask your flaws so that you wont feel so bad about them and others will think you are more pretty.

i, however, have a more natural intake on beauty. my insight is: "beauty is only skin deep." i dont see a reason why you should hide your flaws from other people. i personally dont care if people see me as pretty or not. to me, looks only make up a small percent of a person's being.
i pride myself more on hygiene than makeup.

my question: who is right and who is wrong? and WHY?

(i ask because he's bugging the hell out of me.)
ok, there are some jerks here not answering my question "sensibly" so i'm going to ask for intelligent, serious answers only now….

From dermabrasion, chemical peels to photofacial, microdermabrasion skin care has become one of the best and popular cosmetic skin rejuvenation procedure. Sometimes known as microderm in short, this procedure gently peel off our top layer of dead skin cells by blasting microcrystals on our skin. Next, the crystals and dead skin debris are then removed off from the skin with the microdermabrasion machine vacuuming effect. Once the top layer of dull and dry skin are removed, our new skin underneath has beautiful skin tone and smooth texture. In fact, microdermabrasion skin care has been proven effective in reducing fine lines, wrinkles and in promoting collagen production and new skin cells regeneration.

So do I still need to take care of my skin after the treatment?
The answer is “YES”! Our skin is the largest living and breathing organ of our body. Besides, it protects the “inside” of our body from external environment and eliminates toxins from our body in the form of perspiration. Another function of the skin is that it regulates our body temperature. Of course, there are many other functions performed by our skin on a daily and continuous basis. Hence, even microdermabrasion skin care can help eliminate some of your skin problems, it does not meant to be a form of elixir for your skin.

Usually the first few days after the microdermabrasion skin care treatments, your skin becomes very sensitive to the external environment and you may even experience dryness and itchiness at the same time. Therefore, it is very important to have a sound and basic skin care regime to protect your new skin. Besides, if on-going skin care is done along with microdermabrasion, the results will be even more fantastic!

To many women, microdermabrasion skin care means time consuming and complicated. However, this is not true! The daily 4-step skin care regime tips provides a step by step guide to proper skin care. It is also very important to know your skin type as this will dictate how you should care for your skin.

Cleansing Tips

Make sure you removes your makeup with a proper makeup remover. You have to determine your skin type and get a good cleanser that your skin reacts well. Besides, you have to find the correct oil mix so as not to clog or dry your skin. Only cleanse your skin at night and splash your skin in the morning with lukewarm water to remove excess oils. Avoid washing your face with hot or cold water as this can cause broken capillaries.

To loosen the dirt or clogged pores, the best way is to wash your face with warm water. Just apply a amount of the cleanser before rinsing with lukewarm water.

Exfoliating Tips

An important step in skin care but yet most women will skip this step in their skin care routine. Get a microdermabrasion cream or kit and exfoliate your skin at least once a week. Scrubbing helps to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and keeps your skin smooth and glowing. Always use a gentle scrub for application so as to avoid tearing of the skin.

Moisturizing Tips

Moisturizing is a basic principle of beauty. No matter which skin types you belong to, you must moisturize your skin. However, try not to overdo it as this can clog pores.

Applying Sunscreen Tips

Sunscreen is the last and most important step in your skin care routine. When you are going outdoor, you want to make sure that you use sunscreen to block the harmful rays of the sun from destroying your skin. Apply anti-aging sunscreen to your skin every morning. Ensure that the sunscreen that you used contains one of the following active ingredients – zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or Parsol 1789 (avobenzene). Avoid using moisturizers with sunscreen at night and you should use sunscreen even on cloudy days.

Additional Tips For Healthy Skin
You should take Vitamin C on a regular basis as it enhances the rate of collagen production. Besides, Vitamin C regenerates Vitamin E in the skin that provides sustained antioxidant protection in the skin’s elastic fibers. Lastly, try to avoid smoke-filled rooms as much as possible because smoke can damaged your healthy skin too.

beauty tips for you!!?
here are some helpful beauty tips. =D

tips for oily skin-Oily Skin and Acne Breakouts
Oily skin doesn't necessarily cause acne, but it can be a contributor to breakouts if the skin isn't kept clean enough. Acne occurs when pores are invaded by dirt and oil, get clogged and breed bacteria. The bacteria in the pore causes swelling and the typical pimple is filled with pus, which is the body's attempt to fight infection using white blood cells. Keeping your skin clean and pores unclogged is one important way to prevent acne breakouts. And it all starts with the way you wash your face.

Skin Care and Makeup for Oily Complexions
Some people think that removing oil from the face is like washing it from dishes: they use the harshest soap and the hottest water to get their skin "squeaky clean". They never moisturize, and may even wipe their skin with alcohol to dry it out. The bad news is that if you treat your oily skin with harshness, it will redouble its efforts to protect itself—it will actually start to produce more oil to cope with what it feels are harsh environmental conditions! Wash your face, but use a gentle soap and lukewarm water, and don't rub or scrub. Treat your skin with love and compassion, and it will respond positively. Use an oil-free moisturizer to keep your skin protected, and protect it further by using a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. Keep the shine blotted down by using powdered mineral makeup, which is guaranteed to give you a matte finish without clogging pores. At the end of the day, remove your makeup with a gentle, alcohol-free toner, wash your face gently, and reapply moisturizer before bed.

Natural Beauty Product Suggestions for Oilier Skin
Oil free moisturizers usually contain glycerin and water, and some of the best products also contain tea extracts and oatmeal. Oatmeal has long been recognized as a soothing skin care product, and when used as a mask can brighten your skin without drying it out too much. Companies like Aveeno are making oatmeal based moisturizers and makeup that work wonderfully to care for the skin. Beauty tips columns always contain the oatmeal facial mask as a remedy for oily skin. Just puree oatmeal with a little water, wipe on the skin, allow to dry most but not all they way, and rinse off.

Luckily, caring for your oily skin has never been easier, since a tremendous range of products ensures that there's something for everyone. Treating oily skin is done at two levels; prevention and blemish control. Gentle treatment, the right oil-control makeup and proper nutrition can help prevent oily skin. Blemishes can be treated with tea tree oil or one of the natural remedies including green or white tea extract (powerful antioxidants) and skin calming oils such as lavender or chamomile.

Does diet and nutrition contribute to skin oils?
Some people think that chocolate or fatty foods can cause oily skin, and if you are allergic to a particular food, it may show up in the way your skin behaves. Chocolate has not been shown to increase skin oil or breakouts; in fact, dark chocolate contains antioxidants that are good for your brain and your body. But junk food like chips, high fat, high salt burgers and other fried foods may impact your skin as they do your entire body. If you're a junk food junkie and have oily skin or breakouts, take a month off from your favorite foods to see if your skin condition improves.

Antiaging therapy in the form of creams or lotions containing plant or milk acids often dry users' skins as the acids remove the top layer of skin cells from the complexion. Check out moisturizers containing alpha lipoic acid, which may decrease the oil in your skin after a short time of use.

Skin care home businesses aren’t a new idea. If you decided to start your own skin care home business, you wouldn’t be doing something that numerous women haven’t already done before successfully. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for one more outgoing and beauty conscious woman to come in and make some extra money.

So is a skin care home business right for you? Only you can decide that. I have put together five tips to help you decide if a skin care home business is right for you.

1. You must have an interest in what you are selling.

If you don’t wear makeup or use skin care products on a regular basis, then you might just want to consider another home business. Successfully selling beauty and skin care products is something that should be fun for you. If you don’t know eyeliner from mascara, it will probably be very difficult for you to be successful.

2. Keep yourself up to date on trends in fashion and beauty.

Skin care home businesses can be really successful. Can you convince your clients that they need this season’s newest colors, or why they should try something that they wouldn’t normally wear?

3. Skin care home businesses require organization.

Having a skin care home business will require you to have an excellent filing and ordering system. Don’t worry if you aren’t very organized now. Just remember, if you want to start a skin care home business you will need to be organized.

4. Know your stuff.

Whatever brand of beauty and skincare products you are selling, you must be using it yourself. If you don’t trust your product, how can you expect your customers to do the same? When you go to pick up or drop off customer orders, tempt them with a great looking lipstick – the same one that you are wearing.

5. Always remember to be friendly and helpful.

If you want to be successful in your skin care home business, you must be willing to help your clients. Make sure that you can give them recommendations based on their skin tones and personal style. Always remember to be courteous, even if they only order one product. If your customer has a positive experience buying beauty and skincare products from you, they will likely buy from you again. Not to mention, tell their friends about their pleasant experience buying from you. Being friendly and courteous will definitely help your skin care home business grow and be successful.

You should now have a much clearer picture to help you decide if a skin care home business is right for you. Remember, cosmetics, skincare and beauty products are a huge industry. Every year women are trying to do more and more to keep their skin looking young and healthy.

If you are interested in starting a skin care home business, there are many to choose from. Always research any company before joining and investing your money.

HELP! Teaching a Personal Image class… with male students? MALES PLEASE ADVISE (FEMALES TOO!)?
The class is generally only taken by females. This is the first year any males have signed up and I now have 5! I want to make sure the class involves them too and that they stay interested. Generally we discuss issues such as fashion, history of fashion, makeup, manicures, nails, hair, beauty, skin care etc.

What are some topics that males would be interested in (high school level)?? (general and specific ideas)

Or topics that both sexes would be equally interested in. I don't mind teaching one or two days full of male or female interests, but I don't want to lose either sex interest for too long…

There are lots of skin care tips to be found on the internet and in magazines. The problem is that most of these tips are somewhat unachievable.

Let’s face it – how likely are you to go through a six step skin care regimen every day? While this would be optimal, most of us have busy lives that require lots of our time. Simply put, we just don’t have enough hours in the day to care for skin as some skin care experts would like us to. Still, there are some simple tips that you can do every day…and they won’t take up a lot of your energy.

The first practical skin care tip is: don’t smoke. Simple enough, right? Smoking reduces the amount of circulation within your skin. This is the main reason why smokers often give off a dull appearance. When you smoke, poison and oxidants are being pumped into your skin causing your skin to choke. If you smoke, make every possible effort to quite – no amount of skin care products will stop your skin from aging if you smoke.

Next, make sure to get lots of sleep. Try not to stay up too late at night. If you can, go to bed early and rest properly. Your body needs a lot of sleep to recuperate from a long day. Sleep deprivation can easily cause the skin to look tired, dark, and yellowed. There are some skin care products that can help skin to look rejuvenated after a sleepless night, but a lack of sleep can speed up the aging process.

This next tip is for all the women out there: ladies – make sure that you are applying clean makeup. Change those makeup sponges weekly; throw out old makeup; and don’t use any makeup that looks dirty or has been neglected. Makeup should only last from 6 to 12 months. After that time period has passed, it’s time to throw your makeup away, and start from scratch. Likewise, don’t fall prey to every item of makeup under the sun.

If you walk by a makeup counter, resist the urge to ask a sales girl what you need to purchase. Chances are, you will wind up with a bag full of makeup…and more than two thousand different chemicals that you will slather onto your skin. If you are going to use makeup, use a minimal amount – and make sure to purchase products that include lots of natural ingredients; sunblock; and moisturizer.

When it comes to aging, nothing ages skin quicker than: lack of sleep; smoking, and old makeup. Additionally, applying the right skin care products is crucial to the state of your healthy skin. Products that contain lots of chemicals should be avoided, while products that are made from natural resources should be sought. This might seem difficult, but it is the one sure way to prevent your skin from aging.

Stick to the practical advice listed above. All of these things will help to fight off the signs of aging effectively. Nothing ages your skin quicker than lack of proper care. While you might not have time to work on your skin for hours every day, you can certainly practice proper skin care habits.

Any great beauty tips and tricks?
Just wondering if any of you have any makeup/skin care tips and tricks and wanted to share?

Mine is this: I can’t stand zits BUT always have the urge to pick or squeeze them when they pop up… but I hate the mark it leaves and waiting for it to heal (if I get carried away)! So I wait til night-time, use two cotton buds to squeeze them, and apply Carmex (a coldsore treatment) over it – it seems to heal really really quickly! Works wonders.

(The reason I do it at night is because I have no make-up on and I don’t have to go in public with a shiny spot from the carmex on my face)

Anyone else want to share ?

Although putting on make up is more a women as world there are some men that also apply it though they are in the minority. Men that use make up will do so more in the interests of skin care than for looking good. Many women use make up on a daily basis and this can be damaging to your skin in the long term. This will be even more so if the make up you are using is of poor quality. Saving a dollar or two may certainly be detrimental to your skin in the long run. Make up should only be used on healthy skin which is really self explanatory. There are a variety of excellent quality make up products on the market that are formulated using special moisturizers and added herbs that double as skin care in the make up itself. If you use make up regularly rather aim for these.

When using make up there are a few pointers that will help take care of your skin so that you will look good and your skin will not take a beating.

Here is a guide on make up and make up products that should help you maintain a beautiful skin:

1. When you buy make up products check out the ingredients they have and always but them with your skin care in mind. After all you will be applying them to your face and body so if they double as skin care then you know they will be worthwhile. If you buy make up that causes any sort of skin reaction or you see that you are allergic to it avoid it forever. Check for make up that has excessive alcohol content in it as these are a no-no. They will dry out all the natural oils you have in your skin.

2. Only use make up before the expiry date. If you have old cosmetics and make up on your dressing table or in your bathroom cabinet that are passed their ‘best by’ date dispose of them safely. Always Keep track of the expiry date on your skin care and make up products. It has been discovered that certain vitamin C products can expire well before the specified date so be careful if you prefer using these.

3. Cleansing your skin before applying make up is important. The same goes when removing make up at the end of the day. Naturally you have heard that it is not good for your skin to sleep with your make up on, so take time using a good make up cleanser followed by a quality moisturizer before bedtime which should be a good habit. You make up should also be in good condition. Keep lids tightly shut after you have used them and keep your eye liner pencils sharp and your lash enhancers sealed.

4. When applying makeup then tie your hair up or cover it with a towel especially if you are applying foundation. Naturally your hair care follows on to skin care so keep your hair clean is also part of the make up routine.

5. Take care of your nails properly and use quality nail varnish that has an ingredient in theta keeps your nails from chipping and splitting. Nail care beauticians like to apply a standard color and add a lacquer finish for extra sheen and strength. When you remove nail polish, always be sure to apply a good skin care moisturizer especially to your cuticle area. There are superb cuticle oils that you can find at the make up counter which contain aloe Vera and other herbal ingredients that are great for your hands.

6. When you use eye shadows use a light color if you have deep set eyes and rather use a liquid eye shadow rather than the pencil variety. This helps against smudging as well. If you pluck your eye brows rub in some skin moisturizer straight afterwards. If you are applying make up the following day try and pluck your eye brows the night before. Sometimes the area tends to become tender and swell. Make up may then cause a reaction with the area.

7. For people that suffer from blemishes and acne care needs to be taken with the choice of foundation products and make ups. Man made chemical types of make up can scar and cause even more damage to your skin. A beautician or qualified dermatologist can give you the right advice. There are products available for sensitive skins which can be used. Do not try and squeeze pimples because this can spread infection as well as cause scarring. There are hundreds of very effective products available for teenage acne and for adults that will solve the problem properly without hurting your skin the way squeezing will.

8. Purchase proper make up removers and complementing pads to clean off make up. Work over your entire facial area to make sure every bit of make up is removed and then following with a facial wash.

9. When using deodorants apply them by spraying at least 20cm away from your actual skin unless they are roll on. Do not apply deodorants and perfumes to the same part of your body where they may clash.

10. Take time to apply make up properly when you put it on. A slapdash job will look slapdash and may also be uncomfortable as well. Many women keep a small touch up make up purse in their handbags to repair little smudges and runs. Also keep a make up remover in the same bag as well ready for emergencies.

Make up and skin care goes hand in hand. The better you take care of your skin the longer you will enjoy a smooth elastic and young looking skin. That’s the secret to the film stars beautiful looking skin. Ensure you follow a proper skin care routine without exception with the best products available on the market.

With good skin care, you can not only keep you healthy, but also maintain the youthful appearance longer. Skin care tips are another easy way to gradually improve the quality of life. You should eat at least five daily servings of fruits and vegetables to cleanse the body of toxins that can affect your metabolism.
Focus on hydrating: There is no way around this; you must increase the use of moisturizer in the winter months. Exposure to cold air literally robs your skin of its natural healing ability, and this leads to dryness, flaking and cracking. You need a three-step moisturizing process to maintain healthy skin in these conditions. First, use a gentle body soap that is designed to provide moisturizers. Follow this by applying body lotion after your shower to lock in moisture. Finally, invest in a good facial moisturizer that is free of perfumes and other unnecessary additives. Apply immediately after this time you wash your face.

Skin Care Tips:
1. Avoid getting cold sores in the first place by not sharing things lip balm, toothbrush, or drinks with other people who have cold sores. The virus that causes cold sores is transmitted through the nose in sputum and mouth in saliva.
2. Use sunscreen. Apply SPF 15 in winter and use a higher SPF sunscreen if you’re on vacation on the slopes or the beach.
3. An apple a day – Have an apple with the skin as a snack.
4. Vitamin B helps keep your skin tone healthy.
5. Facial treatment that is very useful for those with oily skin.
6. Remove your makeup before going to sleep.
7. We all know that the sun can damage skin, but you knew that you can contribute to eye problems, too? Protect your face and eyes with a hat and sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection.
8. Cold water fish – Sardines are a good source of essential fats. Salmon is another good source, however these salmon accumulate toxic polychlorinated biphenyls in their body fat during the 95 percent of their lives they spend at sea.
9. Protect your lips. Lips can be especially prone to dry skin because it has no oil glands. Do not lick your lips to moisturize them. Instead, use an oil-based wax or lip balm.
10.

A multi-purpose facial cleanser that may be used as a scrub or a mask, designed to gently exfoliate, smooth and condition the complexion. Prepared with skin balancing orange flower oil, moisturising wheat proteins and gentle oat-derived cleansers, this facial polish will hydrate and condition. A combination of gently exfoliating jojoba wax beads and white China clay will polish the surface of the skin, removing any residual oils and dead skin cells leaving the skin feeling refreshingly soft and smooth.

Health spa treatments can be costly. Have you ever considered creating your own home spa by using lavender and other herbs from your own herb garden? After all of the hours you spent planting and tending to your herb plants, reap another benefit by using your herbs to make herbal cosmetics, herbal teas or herbal medicines.

Exfoliation eliminates dead skin cells, stimulates circulation, and evens skin tone and texture. Invigorate your skin regularly with Golden Door Skin Care’s absolutely fresh, natural, pure, and precisely prepared scrubs and masques. The gentle-but-effective exfoliation process allows your skin’s natural glow to surface.

If your skin is oily this is the ideal homemade scrub. Take 4 tablespoons of chickpea powder. Add to this, half tablespoons of turmeric power, a few drops of rose water and milk to make a thick paste. Rub it all over the body. Apply baking soda on wet face using circular motions. Make a mixture of 1 tsp walnut powder,1/2 tsp honey, 1 tsp lemon juice and scrub your face with it. Other scrubs mash a piece of papaya, then add 1/2 tsp brown sugar and rub your face with it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse well.

Take care of your skin, by using quality skin care products for serious skin care, and natural skin care, including brand name and proactive skincare products. Buy fragrances and perfumes to delight and enchant, and they also make a great skin care product gift that you can order through online shopping. Cosmetics and makeup to enhance your natural beauty (you can even find some skin care tips). Skincare is for taking care of your skin. Your skin will be with you for the rest of your life. Treat it well, and your skin will keep you looking good. Cleanse, moisturize, and pamper your skin with skin care products to make you look and feel your best. Taking care of your skin can help you look and feel younger.

Exfoliate ingredients include sea salt, Epsom salt, white sugar, brown sugar, cornmeal and oatmeal. The wet ingredient is either an oil or vegetable butter or liquid soap. A cream face mask is a moisturizing mask that revitalizes and hydrates the skin. It may contain organic skin care exfoliation agents to help cleanse skin pores, remove waste and toxins and fight free radicals leaving the skin more velvety and luminous. Organic facial masks may contain generous amounts of botanical freshener like rose floral water and calming sea algae to double act as toner. Scrubs work by removing deeply ingrained dirt and grime to leave skin soft and clear. The good ones are made up with the grinded core of the peach fruit or almonds. The natural granules remove dead skin cell and blackheads.

Natural ingredients for making a variety of your own skin care scrubs are quite plentiful right in your kitchen. These are some of the favorite anti-aging skin care recipes, so get out your little bowl and start mixing!

I love cosmetics and skin care products- but I really prefer to use vegan or all natural skin care products instead of the cosmetics being tested on animals. Every year, companies(including cosmetic companies that produce beauty skin care products) injure and kill animals by making them ingest harmful chemicals, inhale harmful aerosol sprays, among other ways. Also, cosmetics being tested on animals are not necessarily good for people as animals have different body chemistry than humans; what could harm an animal might not hurt us and vice versa. Either way, animal testing is wrong, and I won’t partake in it. Now here is how to make sure that you buy natural or vegan products and cosmetics.

1- Does it mention no animal testing? If so, it is probably a safe bet. If not, put it back on the shelf. However it would still be wise to do a little research on the company that makes the product in question. Visit Leaping Bunny.org for more information.

2- Search under online databases for companies that do and don’t test on animals. Caring Consumer has comprehensive lists of both.

3- Buy or make your own natural organic skin care products and makeup products. Simply google natural or environmentally friendly skin care products and you’ll find pages of stores that sell such products. You can also search for natural skin care product and cosmetic recipes and find ways to make your own beauty goodies cruelty free.

You will look just as good in natural products that are not tested on animals- you will also feel better, too.

How do you deal with fashion/beauty snobs who think label/pricey is better than drug-store brand?
I've tried it all out. High end cosmetics, La-Mer, perricone, natura bisse, etc, and their foundations, etc, and then drug store brands such as Max Factor, L'oreal, maybelline, neutrogena, etc, and I was surprised that I found make up that was JUST as good, and sunblocks with 95+SPF, and what not, that made me look just as good as the high end stuff, and of course…you pay like literally 1/10th or 1/20th of the price lol. You pay next to nothing for the drug store brands.

My max factor stick cost me about $5.50 and it makes me look runway ready and flawless, and yet,..my La Mer make up was about $80 I believe..for a single bottle, and did absolutely nothing better than any other makeup out there.

At the end I personally believe that SOME high end cosmetics especially for skin care, DO work much much better at turning back the clock than the over-the-counter stuff, but when it comes to makeup…I think even the "cheap" stuff works.

I mean how is ANYONE going to know? People can't just walk by you and go "that's cover girl!" "maybe that's maybelline?" "oh that's max factor," "oh that's chanel!"

I think that so many people are getting ripped off SO BAD paying for all these higher end products which in the end don't really do anything FOR them.

Same thing with clothes. I visited Barneys, bloomies, nordstroms, saks, neimans, etc, and was actually almost reduced to laughter and an ego boost, because I realized that they overcharge these simple disguisting garments of clothing, that heck you can find better looking stuff at Kohl's for about again 1/10th or 1/20th the price.

Now I'm not saying that rule applies to EVERYTHING. There are some things which you can only get at certain high end stores, and everyone can tell. That can apply for women to handbags, shoes, clothes, etc, many things, it really varies,….but i think makeup to a much much much sligher degree. Skin care..varies greatly.

I mean,..alot of the high end stuff to me is just, you're paying because a "name" or a 'celebrity" MADE the stuff, their NAME is on it, so you're paying for bs basically.

I mean it's funny how there are literally soooo many different brands, and each one has their own face wash, serum, this, that, and basically at the end of the day, half the stuff doesn't work, and the other half isn't any better than they claim it is.

then we have clothes like Guess brand, and even lucky brand, etc,…which is a bit overpriced because it looks cheap/tacky, even Diesel…I mean they claim it's hip and cutting edge, but it's really nothing you'd wear to a classy outing, it's like suburban semi-ghett0, rock type of wear, that you pay like hundreds of dollars for. To look cheap, and you can find similar alternatives at other stores for like next to nothing.

Also another kicker is that all these famous people, celebrities, etc,..get half of their stuff for FREE,….so it's the average person who has to pay for all this stuff, and the average person can't afford it as much as the higher end people who get it for free. talk about unfair, eh?

At the end of the day, I'm just sick of how everyone buys into the myth that higher brand anything must be better than lower brand, at least in fashion/skin care/cosmetics.

cars is a different story. lol. there's a huge difference between a bentley and a yugo,

but is there really a huge difference between la mer foundation and max factor?

I doubt anyone could spot the difference a mile away or a foot away. I really do.
lets put it this way, some celebrities spend hundreds of thousands on the most expensive makeup and plastic surgery (cher, etc) and the girl DOWN THE STREET….who may not even CARE, looks 100000 times better.

I mean, is everyone aware, that we're all getting brainwashed and ripped off to believe that all this high end gunk is actually better for us than the lower brand stuff?

When it comes to trying to look our best, some of us will think about finding the perfect bag, the perfect dress or shoes. Some of us will look to makeup – trying to hide the flaws that we see so clearly.

Rather than covering up the flaws in our skin, some people – like skin care expert Sandra Day – will tell us that we need to focus more on caring for our skin. After all, you can’t just quit smiling in order to keep fine lines by the eyes from disappearing. Aging is something that happens; it’s a process that we all go through.

Fortunately, as she told those of us at Smart Cover Cosmetics, when she was part of our ongoing concealing series, there are skin care steps that we all can take to slow down the effects of photo aging – the aging of our skin based on exposure to the elements and the sun, so all we have to worry about is how much we spend when we’re out shopping.

One of the first steps that we can take to slow down the aging process – which is also one of the easiest steps – is to reduce the way the sun affects our skin. We can wear a hat and a light coverup when we go to the beach or work out in the yard. We can be sure that we wear sunscreen every day – even in the colder winter months.

Another step that we can take involves getting professional advice about anti-aging products that are available. According to Sandra Day however, this doesn’t mean heading to the local makeup counter; instead, it’s a suggestion that if you’re truly committed to reducing the signs of aging, you may want to talk with a dermatologist – a doctor who specializes in caring for the skin.

A dermatologist can provide information about – and explain the risks and benefits of – creams that contain RetinA. However, RetinA can be a skin irritant, and therefore isn’t right for everyone. If RetinA isn’t a good choice for you, don’t panic: there are other options available.

One such option involves creams that contain alphahydroxy acids. These products – such as those containing glycols (glycolic acids that come from sugars) as well as those containing lactic acids (those that come from milk) – penetrate through the top layer of the skin and serve to exfoliate the skin, making it look fresher and younger.

Exfoliation is often the key to younger looking skin, and should be a part of our cleansing regimens. Simply by cleaning our skin – removing oils as well as makeup that we’ve worn through the day – and applying moisturizers and being sure to use gentle exfoliants, we can improve the condition of our skin.

It’s not difficult to put a smart skin care regimen to work in your life, and the best part is that it will help to reduce the signs of aging. Even better though is that Smart Cover makes it easy to even out your skin and make that old damage that we can’t undo seem to disappear.

What's my skin tone and undertone? And what foundation should I use?
I moved from Hawaii to Oregon. I have breakouts every now and then, sometimes worse, sometimes clear. I didn't use to have breakouts.I do have red cheeks and chin. Does that make me red undertone? I am half Filipino and Caucasian.

Pic 1: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v94/crazieluv68/Me/000_0131.jpg
i was wearing my mom's foundation. she is darker than me, shes in pic 2. But, her foundation covered up my redness. I think she uses Estee Lauder.

Mom, me, and brother
Pic 3: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v94/crazieluv68/Me/me.jpg
Me without makeup (when my skin was clear)

I'm looking for a foundation or concealer or both? to cover up my mix complexion. I have red cheeks, sometimes breakouts, etc.

There isn't a beauty store where I live. There's Lancome, but their foundation didn't cover my redness. I've tried bare essencials and it didn't work for me because of some acne scars and my face dries up around my mouth. I do use a moisturizer and liquid foundation seems to work best for me. Even with a good moisturizer, minerals or powder looks flakey on me.

I'm tired of spending a lot of $ on makeup and finding out it doesn't work for me. Beauty advisors from stores just seem to push their products on to me so I would waste $. Please give me your opinion and product recommendation with the details I listed. I don't care if its Maybelline or Estee Lauder.

Many of my clients ask me, well…how do you create a flawless finish on my face? What we want to do is enhance one’s own beauty in applying makeup, but to do this…it begins with having good skin. You see, your skin is like a canvas. And the first place to start is with is foundation, the building blocks to a beautiful face.

I know, I know…Foundation….Yeah, Right?!

Many women skip this step altogether or simply use the wrong shade or type of foundation. But what we’re all forgetting here; to get that clean, fresh start…we need to start with a great canvas to support our master piece.

Ok…I think you are getting the picture.

Here are some of my best tips for enhancing your own beauty personality Style in creating your best face forward. And it’s not as hard as you think.

One of the biggest questions I get from my clients is this: Do I Really Need Foundation???

And …let’s say you have great skin….I’d say. You are one lucky person. Then…all you need is first to apply a good moisturizer (SeneGence SeneDerm) Day Time Moisturizer, which has been tested to be an SPF equivalent of 15). Next, you need is a little concealer and blush. Now…if you are bit red, or pale, has uneven tone, large pores, or acne, etc., then you need to cover your skin with foundation (perhaps mix the moisturizer with the foundation to a tinted moisturizer really) to create that flawless finish.

How does that sound?

Most of the complaints I hear….it is so hard in choosing the right shade of foundation. What is interesting with the SeneGence’s MakeSense Foundation is that it does a color correction within your family of colors. But again….to really do your face justice and choose the right color for you, what I need to know to help you is …your color tone – warm or cool and to pin point the tone of foundation, what you skin looks like…is it pale, medium or darker shades. Then, the idea is to really blend with your own coloring, because it is very hard to exactly match. What I do next is choose three colors and see which one basically disappears into the jar line area…so that I can see if it is appropriate for you neckline as well. What you don’t want is a demarcation between you neck and you face. The next step is to see how it looks on your skin. Please know that I have many clients I have never met, and what I do is ask a series of questions, a talk about color so that I can choose the best color for you.

Make Sense?

Most women don’t think about this, but a wonderful aspect about wearing foundation, is its ability to fight the elements like sun, wind and cold, harsh winter air. Even a foundation, even without the SPF still provides a good barrier, especially against sun damage. With SeneGence’s Foundation, it does have an SPF equivalent of 15 and couple that with the moisturizer, and it has been rated as an SPF equivalent of 30 by independent laboratory testing Then truly, you will never regret saving your skin. It’s all about beautiful skin.

To Blush or Not to Blush…..Now that is great question:

Please know that by only applying foundation or base, you have that look that is flat in my opinion. It is kind of a dead look. To put your best face forward, you really want to create a three-dimensional face— one that provides warmth, and enhances skin and bone structure. In order to give your face that depth….one of the things you need to do is add some blush to highlight the “structures” of your face.

A real common question – can I sleep in this make up? . No….If you are going to sleep for the night, it is best to wash your face. Yes…Mom was right.

Ok….many of us are guilty of sleeping with our make up on. So understand, it really isn’t good for your skin. So..it is essential in having an easy, simple routine. Make sure you have a good cleanser and skin protector steps…since these are essential. And the same for your morning routine.

I know when I sleep in my makeup….my skin doesn’t feel its best and when I sleep with eyeliner or mascara, oh…I know that I didn’t give my eyes or my skin a chance to relax as well.

Senegence’s Anti-Aging Skin Care is great for waking up to refreshed skin. At night, your first remove the color technology with Foops! And then, your wash your face with a 3-in-1 cleaner that cleans, exfoliates, and tones. Next apply an eye crème, SeneGence’s feels so silky and smooth and melts like butter, and finally apply the night cream. It feels so luxurious.

SeneGence’s Skin Care System (Day, Night, Eye Crème, and Cleanser) costs $135 (plus handling/shipping) and my clients all admit it’s worth the investment.

In the morning, you will repeat, with the 3 – in – cleanser, moisturizer with a lighter moisturizer for day, and then apply your makeup steps.

Remember, whatever you do, treat you skin with TLC (tender loving care), because it is never too late improve the canvas you were born with.

Barb’s Basic Foundation Tips

1. Tips in Selecting Foundation

a. Select a foundation that matches your underlying skin tone exactly.

b. Experiment with three shades on your face that you think will work…and see which one disappears.

2. Application Tips

a. Apply Foundation with a brush, a slightly damp sponge or on the tips of your fingers. If you want our foundation to last, don’t use fingers.

b. Start at the top of the face and work in a downward motion.

c. Blend well along the hairline

3. More Tips

a. Foundation application can be heavy or light; Fast application – mix foundation with day time moisturizer

b. More dewy look – use alittle of the night time moisturizer mixed in your foundation as well.

As a woman matures, skin care and makeup application changes but they always go hand in hand to create beauty. More focused attention to skin care is in order. “Less is more” when it comes to makeup. Makeup should be applied and colors should be chosen in a way that helps lift the face to make you look younger and more attractive. Your cosmetics should never be used as something to hide behind, rather your makeup and skin care should be used to enhance and accent the mature beauty that you have become.

Body hair in new places is something you can count on – again; it’s hormones in action. You may want to start shaving some places where body hair grows, but whether you do is up to you. Some guys who grow facial hair like to let it develop into a mustache and beard. Some girls may decide to leave the hair on their legs and under their arms as is. It’s all up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Brush your tongue.

Remember how stunning the ladies were in the 1950’s? That style worked beautiful back then, but if you’ve recently been asked if you’re going to sock hop, it’s time to box up those old Look Magazines and run–not walk–into the 21st century. Get as many fashion magazines as you can find, and don’t overlook the internet, the best free resource for ordering magazines, finding hairstyles, clothes, shoes, and an abundance of attitude for today’s mature woman.

The more you keep your body hydrated the longer your skin will stay elastic and supple. Your inside will be happy as well and be less likely to hold on to water weight due to “water feminine” just like your body adjusts and slows down your metabolism for “calorie famine” when you severely cut back on eating.

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active. At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises.

Place it to draw attention to your best asset. One nice ring (and I mean one, leave the extra rings at home Liberace!) or a nice bracelet will draw attention to your hands, a nice necklace will draw attention to your neck or, if it drops low, your bust, a great belt will draw attention to your waist, nice earring to your neck and face.

Don’t skip out on exercise. Who says you can’t exercise when you’re over 50? Heck, we’ve seen quite a few and they’ve outdone us at the gym! If you’ve never exercised before, talk with your doctor before beginning a program. As soon as you have an okay, try walking a few minutes a day and increase those minutes by every other day. If you have a dog, walk him or her.

Avoid applying blush to the cheekbones since this can make aging faces look overly thin. Instead, apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend, blend, blend. Also, look for cream blush instead of powder. Powder tends to settle into fine lines and wrinkles, making them look extremely visible.

Need some makeup tips. please help.?
I really don't know much about make up, growing up I had no one who cared enough to teach me anything about beauty. I have fair skin and like a green-gray eye color and I can't seem to find any color eyeshadow or blush that looks good on me and doesn't make me look like a clown. So if anyone has any advice please help.

Beautiful skin is a result of a beauty skin care regime, and this is a process that can be cultivated as a daily habit. A part of the daily routine can include the elements of a beauty skin care plan. Radiant, youthful looking skin is possible each and every day with the right combination of products, a healthy lifestyle, a steady diet rich in fresh and natural food, and plenty of rest. Skin cells are able to restore and refresh themselves when they are well taken care of. Skin maintenance is an ongoing process that can enhance the skin’s ability to produce fresh skin cells on a regular basis. When this is damaged severely or resistance is lowered, it may lead to premature aging, wrinkles, and dull complexions.

The Beauty Skin Care Regime

A beauty skin care regime will be comprised of a few key essentials and steps in a consistent program. These will include regular:

Cleansing

Toning

Buffing

Moisturizing

Exfoliation

Clear makeup application

Cleansers

Cleansing is an essential part of any skin care program, and can occur twice daily. Cleansers can vary from foaming to lotion or cream cleansers, and will depend largely on skin type and condition. Mediated cleansers are often used for many skin disorders or after intensive treatments. Common ingredients for potent and effective cleansers include lemon or aloe bases, infusions of Vitamin C, lavender, and rose, and menthol-based cleansers for deeper cleaning.

Toners

Toning helps to refresh and revitalize the skin, and will remove any buildup or toxins that the cleanser may not have removed or picked up. Toners can vary in strength, and may be alcohol-based. These will take away any moisture, so finding the right cleanser for skin type is essential. Dryer skin may require less toner, and there are many toners available for sensitive skin types that will not strip away moisture from the top layer so severely. Other toners may help increase moisture with vitamin-rich ingredients.

Buffers

Skin buffers can remove dead skin cells lightly, in between exfoliating treatments. Buffing agents may include a washcloth, firm sponge, or facial buff block. These can help smooth out an uneven complexion over time, and will remove dirt and grime at the same time. Buffers can be harsh on sensitive skin, so light buffing may be a better option for light and sensitive skin-types.

Moisturizers

Moisturizing is an essential part of beauty skin care, and the right moisturizer for each skin type will ensure that skin looks vibrant, healthy, and attractive on a regular basis. Dry skin can lead to skin discomfort, irritation, and a variety of skin disorders. Applying the right moisturizers can help skin stay soft, smooth, and supple on a regular basis, as well as help to restore skin from any external damage or climate changes.

Exfoliation

Weekly or biweekly exfoliation is an excellent way to enhance and revitalize skin naturally. Exfoliation not only removes dirt and debris from the skin’s surface, but can also smooth out any lines and refresh the top layer of the skin by boosting circulation. Common exfoliating agents include oatmeal, seed granules, and some types of sand and mud that do not clog pores. After exfoliation, the pores are opened so a generous application of moisturizer is recommended.

Clean Makeup

Wearing makeup on a regular basis has many benefits when it is applied properly. Makeup can provide a protective barrier between the skin and the environment, and the right makeup for the skin will depend on skin type, climate, and general skin sensitivities. Chemical-based makeup will generally clog pores and leave skin with an unhealthy shine. Natural and organic makeup lines can enhance skin, and even nourish it further with fresh ingredients, vitamins, and minerals. Applying makeup with clean applicators is essential to prevent bacteria and infection from building up in the skin’s pores, and leaving it with a healthy glow instead.

Beauty Skin Care and Diet

Apart from the external factors and influences for maintaining healthy skin, diet and internal balance can play a vital role. Hormonal changes can play a significant role in how the skin reacts and responds to various elements. Any imbalances will show up on the skin in the form of redness, dry skin, blotchy skin, or a dull complexion. In addition, the diet can play a vital role in how the skin appears. Diets that are rich in wholesome, natural foods will help the cells in the body grow and maintain themselves. Water is essential to all of the functions of the body, and can maintain the moisture level of natural skin. A diet that includes a variety of foods is essential for overall health. Specific foods and vitamins that affect the skin include:

?	Fish oil, fatty fish, and Omega 3 supplements for essential fatty acids that can give skin a youthful appearance
?	Vitamin C for balanced skin. This is found in many citrus fruits and as a supplement in juice
?	Natural nuts and seeds for Vitamin B, Vitamin K, and natural fats
?	Leafy green vegetables and freshly squeezed juice for antioxidant properties

Are you overwhelmed by the quantity of beauty skin care products on the market these days? I would be if I did not know what to look for in a good product. So many products on the market are not effective or even good for your skin at all. Some even contain ingredients that could harm your skin.

The only beauty skin care products that will actually work are the ones that contain natural ingredients that have been clinically tested. In addition, the products should be from a company that does their own research and development along with testing their products on human volunteers.

You have probably heard stories of beauty skin care products that contain potentially harmful ingredients. In fact, some ingredients could even cause cancer. Let us focus on some of the potentially harmful ingredients. Most people are familiar with mineral oils. They are found in many skin products because they are cheap.

The problem with mineral oils is that they clog the pores. It may feel like your skin is softer but it is not good at all. It can lead to acne breakouts and skin inflammation. Another harmful additive is preservatives. They are called parabens and they could cause cancer or allergic reactions. Many cosmetic companies use them because it gives the products longer shelf life.

The last ingredient that I will urge you to avoid is acrylamide. This ingredient is found in many products but it could potentially cause cancer or breast tumors.

These are some nasty substances to avoid.

As we age, our bodies produce less and less of the vital proteins that give our skin a youthful look and feel. These proteins are collagen and elastin. In order to reverse the signs of aging skin, we need to restore the collagen and elastin levels in our skin.

When you are looking for a beauty skin care product that will work, you need to find one that will boost the production of collagen and elastin.

Certain natural substances found in the best skin care products available will do just that they will help your body produce more of these two vital skin proteins.

I will cover a couple of these natural ingredients in this article. One is phytessence wakame. It is derived from a specific type of Japanese sea kelp. This amazing natural substance will fight inflammation and make the skin much smoother by working with the skins natural proteins.

Another natural substance that boosts the production of collagen and elastin is Cynergy TK. A skin care company in New Zealand developed it. This substance is rich in keratin, which is a protein that is very important to the overall structure and appearance of the skin and is available in a select few beauty skin care products.

Where can I go to learn about skin and beauty care?
I want to learn more about what kind of ingredients are good for your skin. Like with facials and beauty stuff. Where can I go to learn about that? I would really like to learn this stuff and maybe somehow get a business going.

The skin is the largest and one of the most intriguing organs of the body, accounting for 16 per cent of body weight.

The skin is continually repairing and renewing itself. When you are young, the main skin complaints are greasy skin and acne. But as you grow older, the skin gets dry and the challenge is to counteract the dryness of the skin. However, you can have beautiful skin no matter what your age, race or color. The secret is to understand how your skin functions, and to take care of it properly.

Winter Skin Care Tips

1.Use a humidifier. With the heat on and the windows closed, the air inside can become very dry in the winter, making the dryness and itching of eczema even worse. Use a humidifier to place moisture in the air. If you don’t want to invest in an expensive humidifying system, smaller, relatively inexpensive humidifiers can be obtained at a local drug store. Placing two or three of these around your home will help to humidify the dry air. This can keep skin from drying and becoming cracked and itchy.

2. Exfoliate

A good boy scrub and facial exfoliant can help remove dead skin cells from your body. Add this to your cleansing routine once a week. Not only will you feel fresh but your skin will be free from all that old dry cells. Now you’re ready to moisturize!

3. Oil bath

Now how does a jojoba oil or sweet almond bath sound to you? Relaxing isn’t it! You don’t have to keep these for holidays. Nourish you skin by adding a few drops of these oils into your every day bath. It will do wonders for your skin.

4. Drink Water

Drink a glass of hot water with lemon. This Chinese herbal remedy is a sure-fire method of energizing your body. It will de-tox your entire system, including the liver and gall bladder. This means that your body will be able to clean the blood faster to get rid of toxins responsible for bad skin.

To protect the skin, keep baths and showers short and the water temperature warm – not hot.

Beautiful Skin Care Tips

To make or keep your skin beautiful, it’s best to work from the inside.

Eating the right kind of food can do you more good than any medicine, and go a long way in helping your body’s own healing forces. Eat a balanced diet that includes raw foods, plenty of yellow and orange vegetables (they contain beta carotene – a precursor to vitamin A). Foods high in sulfur such as garlic, onions, asparagus and eggs. Include fruits, seeds, grains and nuts.

Some Protective Measures

Healthy skin is young looking skin. There are preventative techniques that can promote the best skin possible and keep it looking its best longer.

Avoid over exposure to the sun. Sun damage leads to hyper pigmentation (brown spots) which can develop into serious skin disease. Excessive exposure can also exaggerate and thicken fine lines. Use an SPF 15 or higher on all exposed skin, especially on the face.
