While selecting a top, my advice is to make it a tighter one when combined with baggy jeans.  Baggy jeans might let you feel a bit boyish and that is why a tighter t-shirt or a tank top may get you back your femininity and enhance your shape. Thus, you can have cropped baggy or cropped skin-tight jeans too. Cropped jeans versatility makes them fashion apparel you can wear during any season.

Just wondering if any of you have any makeup/skin care tips and tricks and wanted to share?

Mine is this: I can’t stand zits BUT always have the urge to pick or squeeze them when they pop up… but I hate the mark it leaves and waiting for it to heal (if I get carried away)! So I wait til night-time, use two cotton buds to squeeze them, and apply Carmex (a coldsore treatment) over it – it seems to heal really really quickly! Works wonders.

(The reason I do it at night is because I have no make-up on and I don’t have to go in public with a shiny spot from the carmex on my face)

i think in fall 2008, we will see more high waisted styles in pants and jeans. wide leg jeans may replace skinny jeans but not in its entirety (a few flare-legged styles have made a comeback). but i think fashion will transition through to the late '80s and early '90s. in 2009 and 2010, i believe the '90s will make a comeback with the '80s post-punk fashion giving away to street hip-hop inspired fashion for women and grunge fashion for guys. anyway, i think in the next decade a mix of old school hip-hop fashion and late '90s pop fashion will dominate.

All White- I hear you all gasp I can’t wear white! Also the fabric will have an effect – a crisp tailored white shirt will look whiter and brighter than a tee shirt, so to soften a harsh look wear softer flowing fabrics.

The big trends are:

KNEE HIGH SOCKS: These along with thigh high socks are set to be very popular, but the school girl look is definitely a no no –so do not wear with pleated skirts. This season it is more of a grown up look with the socks teamed with patterned tights for extra texture. The socks are either worn pulled up or scrunched down.  Knee high socks or just above the knee socks are more slimming than thigh high if you are concerned with the size of your thighs.  In the warmer weather wear thinner and light coloured socks. If you are conscious about your legs, try neutral plain socks or match the colour to your shoe.  Wear a heel for a more sophisticated look.

HIGH WAISTED HOTPANTS!!! Wearing knee high socks with hot pants will ensure not too much skin is revealed. But OK with hot pants you do have to be young and have a reasonable figure, so we’ll leave that one for the young fashionistas. However if you wear on the beach then that is a different scenario – it can give you a fun and sexy 1950’s look. Alternative and still on trend looks are:

BOY SHORTS & SHORT SHORTS: Still short but not as figure hugging

TAP PANTS: these are looser and not so short, usually with a ruffled finish (similar to lingerie) in lace or semi sheer materials. These give a feminine look  

UNDERWEAR AS OUTERWEAR: Corsets/bustiers will be shown and worn as tops or part of dresses. This is good news for all shapes and sizes as they hold you in, push you up and give curves where none existed. Some will have bra straps giving added support. For a more feminine look, wear silk/satin slips as dresses or tops. Some of the hot pants will be made of satin and so looking like lingerie. For the daring bras will be worn on top of tight tops – no need to hide your La Perlas now.

JEWELLERY: Big statement necklaces are still on trend. Only have one large statement piece unless your bone structure is large. If you have an angular face, choose jewellery with angular details, e.g. squares, triangles. If you have a contoured face, choose softer detail such as loops, circle, and ovals. Also consider your face shape when choosing jewellery. E.g. a round face will look good in longer earrings as they will lengthen the face, round earrings will only emphasise the roundness of the face.

TROUSERS: 

Patterned pants – stripes, florals, graphic and abstract shapes in bright & bold colours and also subtle & muted colours. Anything as long as they are patterned. Not good news for the bottom heavy figure so go for the more relaxed cuts rather than skinny tailored cuts. This trend will suit top heavy or the boyish figure. 

Jodhpurs- high waisted to make the legs look longer and the muffin tops in . The shape gives a curve to the boyish figure and can also help disguise the larger hips.

Jumps suits & playsuits. These were in trend last summer and continue in to SS10. Will look good on curvy figures in the softer fabrics, but also for the straighter figures in a more taut fabric.

Patched ripped jeans - probably only for the younger woman

Genie pants – similar to harem pants but a bit more fitted.

 DRESSES :Hot pants and short shorts may be showing a lot of leg suring the day, but it’s the more sophisticated long slit dresses for the evening. dresses with splits – How far up will you go? For the daring, the split will reach the hip. If don’t have tanned toned legs, wear patterned tights or show off your stay ups.

FUTURE TRIBAL WARRIOR :  This is a blend of dark ancient tribal fashion (think Xena Warrior Princess) with a futuristic twist. Leather and metal plating are key materials.

How do you deal with fashion/beauty snobs who think label/pricey is better than drug-store brand?
I've tried it all out. High end cosmetics, La-Mer, perricone, natura bisse, etc, and their foundations, etc, and then drug store brands such as Max Factor, L'oreal, maybelline, neutrogena, etc, and I was surprised that I found make up that was JUST as good, and sunblocks with 95+SPF, and what not, that made me look just as good as the high end stuff, and of course…you pay like literally 1/10th or 1/20th of the price lol. You pay next to nothing for the drug store brands.

My max factor stick cost me about $5.50 and it makes me look runway ready and flawless, and yet,..my La Mer make up was about $80 I believe..for a single bottle, and did absolutely nothing better than any other makeup out there.

At the end I personally believe that SOME high end cosmetics especially for skin care, DO work much much better at turning back the clock than the over-the-counter stuff, but when it comes to makeup…I think even the "cheap" stuff works.

I mean how is ANYONE going to know? People can't just walk by you and go "that's cover girl!" "maybe that's maybelline?" "oh that's max factor," "oh that's chanel!"

I think that so many people are getting ripped off SO BAD paying for all these higher end products which in the end don't really do anything FOR them.

Same thing with clothes. I visited Barneys, bloomies, nordstroms, saks, neimans, etc, and was actually almost reduced to laughter and an ego boost, because I realized that they overcharge these simple disguisting garments of clothing, that heck you can find better looking stuff at Kohl's for about again 1/10th or 1/20th the price.

Now I'm not saying that rule applies to EVERYTHING. There are some things which you can only get at certain high end stores, and everyone can tell. That can apply for women to handbags, shoes, clothes, etc, many things, it really varies,….but i think makeup to a much much much sligher degree. Skin care..varies greatly.

I mean,..alot of the high end stuff to me is just, you're paying because a "name" or a 'celebrity" MADE the stuff, their NAME is on it, so you're paying for bs basically.

I mean it's funny how there are literally soooo many different brands, and each one has their own face wash, serum, this, that, and basically at the end of the day, half the stuff doesn't work, and the other half isn't any better than they claim it is.

then we have clothes like Guess brand, and even lucky brand, etc,…which is a bit overpriced because it looks cheap/tacky, even Diesel…I mean they claim it's hip and cutting edge, but it's really nothing you'd wear to a classy outing, it's like suburban semi-ghett0, rock type of wear, that you pay like hundreds of dollars for. To look cheap, and you can find similar alternatives at other stores for like next to nothing.

Also another kicker is that all these famous people, celebrities, etc,..get half of their stuff for FREE,….so it's the average person who has to pay for all this stuff, and the average person can't afford it as much as the higher end people who get it for free. talk about unfair, eh?

At the end of the day, I'm just sick of how everyone buys into the myth that higher brand anything must be better than lower brand, at least in fashion/skin care/cosmetics.

I doubt anyone could spot the difference a mile away or a foot away. I really do.

Elena Garcia’s SS10 collection is called “ Silk Safari” and was inspired by the films The English Patient and Lawrence of Arabia. Rather than covering up the flaws in our skin, some people – like skin care expert Sandra Day – will tell us that we need to focus more on caring for our skin. After all, you can’t just quit smiling in order to keep fine lines by the eyes from disappearing. Aging is something that happens; it’s a process that we all go through.

Fortunately, as she told those of us at Smart Cover Cosmetics, when she was part of our ongoing concealing series, there are skin care steps that we all can take to slow down the effects of photo aging – the aging of our skin based on exposure to the elements and the sun, so all we have to worry about is how much we spend when we’re out shopping.

One of the first steps that we can take to slow down the aging process – which is also one of the easiest steps – is to reduce the way the sun affects our skin. We can wear a hat and a light coverup when we go to the beach or work out in the yard. We can be sure that we wear sunscreen every day – even in the colder winter months.

Another step that we can take involves getting professional advice about anti-aging products that are available. According to Sandra Day however, this doesn’t mean heading to the local makeup counter; instead, it’s a suggestion that if you’re truly committed to reducing the signs of aging, you may want to talk with a dermatologist – a doctor who specializes in caring for the skin.

A dermatologist can provide information about – and explain the risks and benefits of – creams that contain RetinA. However, RetinA can be a skin irritant, and therefore isn’t right for everyone. If RetinA isn’t a good choice for you, don’t panic: there are other options available.

One such option involves creams that contain alphahydroxy acids. These products – such as those containing glycols (glycolic acids that come from sugars) as well as those containing lactic acids (those that come from milk) – penetrate through the top layer of the skin and serve to exfoliate the skin, making it look fresher and younger.

Exfoliation is often the key to younger looking skin, and should be a part of our cleansing regimens. Simply by cleaning our skin – removing oils as well as makeup that we’ve worn through the day – and applying moisturizers and being sure to use gentle exfoliants, we can improve the condition of our skin.

What's my skin tone and undertone? And what foundation should I use?
I moved from Hawaii to Oregon. I have breakouts every now and then, sometimes worse, sometimes clear. I didn't use to have breakouts.I do have red cheeks and chin. Does that make me red undertone? I am half Filipino and Caucasian.

i was wearing my mom's foundation. she is darker than me, shes in pic 2. But, her foundation covered up my redness. I think she uses Estee Lauder.

I'm looking for a foundation or concealer or both? to cover up my mix complexion. I have red cheeks, sometimes breakouts, etc.

There isn't a beauty store where I live. There's Lancome, but their foundation didn't cover my redness. I've tried bare essencials and it didn't work for me because of some acne scars and my face dries up around my mouth. I do use a moisturizer and liquid foundation seems to work best for me. Even with a good moisturizer, minerals or powder looks flakey on me.

I'm tired of spending a lot of $ on makeup and finding out it doesn't work for me. Beauty advisors from stores just seem to push their products on to me so I would waste $. Please give me your opinion and product recommendation with the details I listed. I don't care if its Maybelline or Estee Lauder.

makeup for confidence?
i am ugly (well i think i am)…. i am indian and my skin color is ok, not that fair but average………..i would always look in the mirror and say "why am i so ugly" "whats wrong with me" i even started crying when i saw other girls in my school and compared them to me, i would start crying because i am ugly…i stated putting on powder,eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. when i put on make up, i feel less trashy about my face. people always think i am try way 2 hard to impress them but its not for them its for my sake. my family members always make fun of me, they would say "u only care about beauty and Fashion and how u look" that makes me want to start crying. should i just stop using makeup or do u think its good for me? (i am 14)
